Gang violence had presented a significant challenge to Apparent Project Elementary Teachers! Haiti require students to pass a test at the end of the year. Students who don’t pass must repeat the current grade. The last 2 weeks there was no school due to increased violence after the Prime Minister stepped down & several airplanes were shot.
So… the elementary teachers set up WhatsApp groups for each class.
Remote Learning through WhatsApp!
The system ensures that each student receives classwork & can communicate with the teacher. It also ensures that each student is doing his/her own work! The general plan… Students receive assignments for the week, then bring their work to school at the end of the week (if it’s safe to show up.)
This system was used in the 2022-2023 school year, and our students passed the required tests at the end of the year!
In spite of the current challenges, every essential person shows up, and we work together to serve our students & their families.
