We’ve been Winning in 2023!

We’ve been Winning in 2023!

Thank you for being part of the AP family in 2023.

We are grateful for all of you! For our long-term supporters & those who have joined us recently! Your investment is producing good results in the Haitians we serve! Together we are growing a new generation of leaders in Haiti, people who will be equipped to help solve problems in their country.

WINS! During the continuing unrest in Haiti!

In January 2023, after having Haiti schools closed all fall due gang activities throughout the country, we were able to be open our schools on a normal schedule.

We lost about 4 months of school, but our teachers managed to complete the year’s school requirements by early July, just 3 weeks after the normal end of school date!!

Also, in spite of missing months of class time, almost all of our students did well on the mandated Haitian tests. About 5 or 6 kids (of about 60 elementary students) had trouble passing just 1 of the exams. So we tutored them during the summer & re-tested. They passed!

We have some excellent teachers. Thank you for your support!

Other wins in 2023!

Training for all teachers in Sept 2023. Pam Thompson shared expert tips that she has learned through her over-25-years of experience as an early childhood teacher. Pierre translated for her! We recorded the training and hope to make it available for other groups in Haiti.

AP Institute advanced software training was completed by our teachers, Pierre & Hacheley. Vince, our software engineer mentored them mainly via Zoom using courses from the University of Michigan & Carnegie Mellon University. Pierre & Hacheley received official certificates! We now have the ability to begin training others in these skills.

Our AP staff  receives free computer & English skills training. Our 4th through 6th grade students are also learning to type & are learning basic computer skills. We have students from outside Apparent Project enrolled in our program, too.

Road maintenance! Your gifts helped us extend the road to our first gate (where the road becomes almost level)! Thank you!!!! This will drastically reduce the repair bills & extend the life of our Kia truck. We are so grateful that our Kia still runs! We haul students, staff, visitors, equipment & more. It regularly hauls the much-needed water for our AP kids & staff. (Often schools don’t provide clean water for their students.)

This school year (2023-2024) there are…

  • 101 children enrolled in our programs from infant through 6th
  • 34 Haiti staff members… teachers, guards, housekeeping, maintenance & leadership.

Next school year (2024-2025) we expect the number of students to increase. But we have limited space, so there is a waiting list for the childcare & preschool and a limited number of spaces for elementary students.

Also, next year we plan to add 7th grade. We are certified through 9th grade. Each year we are challenged to believe for more! More space, more quality teachers, more finances! More! We are expanding! It is a faith-building adventure!

As we close out the year, please consider investing in the future of our Haitian friends  & families with a final
year-end tax-deductible gift.

Chaos & oppression in Haiti block opportunities for the poor.

Apparent Project offers the quality education & job skills training needed to help the poor rise up out of poverty and become future leaders of integrity in Haiti.
