Meeting Guerline

Meeting Guerline

Guerline is so special to me! She is one of the 4 original women who became part of Apparent Project when it was first created in 2009!  She was also one of the 4 original women who were chosen to be part of the AP Childcare when it started in 2014!

Someday her full story will be shared. An amazing story of severe hardship, loss… then restoration!  Today, I’ll just share a little about who she is! Guerline is gifted artistically. Her design skills are natural. She also has a great sense of humor and loves to laugh!

Guerline works in the AP Preschool with our 3- & 4-year-old children . She has an ability to connect with kids easily. Her natural creativity & ability to engage in activities on their level is so valuable! She has a “mama’s” heart! The kids are drawn to that love!

Her passion is to know God intimately, and for her kids to know Him, too.

Guerline shares…

Why did you want to work at AP?  I needed to provide for myself & my son.

Are you happy working at AP? Yes Why? It’s family! It brings me life!

What do you enjoy about your job?

There is peace! And the kids call me mom!
It’s a comfortable environment! (She seems to be “in her skin”.)
I feel connected at AP. God is pleased with AP.

What is your dream?

To have a store that I can pass on to my kids; To learn some business skills.
I have suffered a lot & want to protect my kids from repeating the cycle.
More training for the preschool job.

Tell me a little about your family.

I have very little family but have a deaf aunt who helps me a little.
I have a son who is adopted, and lives in States.
My older son lives with me and goes to school. He is also learning some English & Computer skills at AP Institute.

What do you love/like about Haiti? It’s my country. I love everything (except the insecurity).

Prayer requests… That I continue serving God. That my kids know Him.

Video transcript – Guerline shares her heart for Apparent Project. (Instagram video post… later today.) @apparentprojecthaitiCreole Version

English

Good evening! My name is Guerline Colin.  I have been working at Apparent Project since 2009 and have experienced a lot at Apparent Project.  I’m happy today to make this short video because Apparent Project has helped a lot in my life, and Apparent Project is my life.

Before I started working at Apparent Project, life wasn’t easy for me. It wasn’t very good for me.  I was sick; my child was sick; he was hospitalized. After that I put him into an orphanage. Thank God, he was fine while he was there. I have been working in Apparent Project since then until now.  It’s like a family for me.

What Apparent Project has done in my life: I have bought a piece of land where I can build a house to live in. Apparent Project has done that for me. In the beginning I couldn’t do that. I couldn’t rent a house to live in. I was living in my sister’s house. Now, I can pay for school for one of my sons.

I’m also happy for what Apparent Project is doing in Haiti.  Apparent Project has helped a lot of mothers who have had the father of their children leave them. That’s what happened to me.  My children’s father left me.

After God, Apparent Project represents a father for me and my children.  This is how Apparent Project helps lots of families. It helps many parents. Many children aren’t on the street. Many children can go to school. Parents can feed their children. They can do many other things.  I’m happy with the experiences.

What I like again, Apparent Project is a family.  When we’re in Apparent Project, we feel good.  Me, I feel good in Apparent Project because I have a family. At first, I had Shelley like a family, and now I have Marilyn like a family again. I feel good in the team too.

I’m happy with the work that the Apparent Project is doing and the changes it has made in my life as well, the changes it has made in the lives of others, and the changes it will make in the lives of all the children who attend school in the Apparent Project. I like it.

What I would like for Apparent Project, I would like for Apparent Project to keep adding grades and so that our children can finish school in Apparent Project.

Apparent Project is my heart, I’m happy and I love you all.

Chaos & oppression in Haiti block opportunities for the poor.

Apparent Project offers the quality education & job skills training needed to help the poor rise up out of poverty and become future leaders of integrity in Haiti.
