Hello again from Marilyn

Hello again from Marilyn

It’s interesting to me… Our world view! How it affects the way we look at life, situations, people, events and more! No one has the total picture, and we are all influenced by where we were born, our parents, family, teachers, friends… everyone we encountered throughout the years.

As I’ve been considering what to write about each of our Haiti staff, it’s obvious that my dad’s world view was imprinted on me growing up. Until he passed away, he always considered “people as people.” What I mean by that… it didn’t matter to him who you were… old or young, rich or poor, educated or not! Whatever color you were… to him it didn’t matter. You were a person, created & valued by God! You were His treasured possession!

This is actually a “Kingdom of God” view. We may not all have the same interests & abilities, or skill level or the same opportunities. We are all unique in so many ways. But… we are all highly valued by God! When God created the world there is only one “thing” that He said was created “in His image!” People! The most valued of all His creation… created in His image!! Each of us. I believe it with all my heart! It’s part of my world view!

When I look at the Apparent Project staff, and their families, and the families & kids they serve… I think about the fact that each was created with amazing potential… with unique gifts. God has a purpose in mind for each of us! My desire is to see what He sees in them and find ways to help each person become who they were created to be, and to have the skills needed to do the “good works” God intended for each person to do.

Just needed to share my thoughts with you!
Check out the links & exerpts from last week’s posts below!

Excerpts from Week 1

INTRO… Hello from Marilyn: https://apparentproject.org/hello-from-marilyn/

Marilyn is a “behind the scenes” worker – most often working behind a computer screen! However, the day starts with a cup of coffee (which her husband makes for her!) accompanied by her dogs.

Is “middle-aged”… more than half-way to 120!

She loves photography, showcasing people (especially family & grandkids!) She has some Haitian grandkids, too!

Loves her family! Loves her Haitian friends! Loves Haiti!

Lovana: https://apparentproject.org/meeting-lovana/

Lovana is a dedicated worker, a wife & mom of 3 beautiful kids! Someone who sees an opportunity & goes after it! The first to buy land & build a home!

She loves music & dance! (And so does her son! Check out the video clip on Instagram!) Her kids’ names include “Prince & Princess” which shows how valued they are!

Lovana Ioves God! A prayer warrior! So grateful to have Lovana!

Angelo: https://apparentproject.org/meeting-angelo/

When asked how we ended up with such amazing staff… my response is generally, “They just show up! We are happy Angelo showed up!

He’s an amazing Physical Education teacher! He loves kids! Sweating, laughing, having fun! He brings organized active fun to the children three days each week as well as the opportunity to learn rules of sports and how to work together in physical games.

We thank God that we found Angelo… or he found us.

Jeanline: https://apparentproject.org/meeting-jeanline/

When I think about Jeanline, I can’t help smiling! She is one of those hidden treasures, the unsung hero that exudes JOY! Everyday! Always!

Watching her work so hard at physical tasks that are so difficult… always with a smile on her face! And life has not been easy for Jeanline! Her parents died. She is the oldest & helped raise her siblings.

What an example to of a life that is filled with His Joy! My hero!

Nicky: https://apparentproject.org/meeting-nicky/

Nicky’s story is very interesting! From being raised by his mom, with time spent at living in an orphanage due to poverty… Dreaming & asking God… if he could have a job, he’s really like to work with kids.

Training at Apparent Project provided skills & opportunity for a job at AP! His dream came true! We needed an admin & general manager to help with the daily happenings at our Childcare & Preschool. So grateful for Nicky! He loves kids & they love him!

Johanne: https://apparentproject.org/meeting-johanne/

When interviewed for the 3rd grade teacher postition, it was obvious that she was a well qualified and experienced teacher!  But there’s more!!

Who has more fun than Johanne? She is a powerhouse of energy, full of life & love! She loves to celebrate & dance! And love s kids!

Her greatest desires…
to own her own home, health forher daughter, and a job for her husband!

Chaos & oppression in Haiti block opportunities for the poor.

Apparent Project offers the quality education & job skills training needed to help the poor rise up out of poverty and become future leaders of integrity in Haiti.
