Current Danger in Haiti

Current Danger in Haiti

Early March 2024, gangs broke into Haitian prisons and released prisoners, burned down police stations, and attacked the airport while calling for the resignation of Haiti’s prime minister. Because of the violence, Haiti still remains in a state of lock-down, which is especially hard on the people of Haiti because many people do not have food and supplies to last more than a couple of days.

The Haitian people don’t support the gangs, nor do they trust the government. In addition to the conflict within Haiti, Haiti doesn’t trust the outside world. And because of the failure of interventions to develop stability in Haiti, the outside world is slow to offer help to Haiti. It is a desperate and complicated situation that shows our need for God’s presence and wisdom. It’s also an opportunity for God to do the work that only God can do to turn Haiti around and cause Port au Prince to become the Port of the Prince of Peace.

The current violence and lock-down affects our entire staff in many ways. We have several Apparent Project staff members who are currently living in danger because of their location. They live in areas where gangs are breaking into homes, stealing what little they have, burning down houses, raping women and girls, and killing residents.

Listen as Apparent Project Director of Schools, Pierre, tells how the Apparent Project recently helped one of our teachers and her family when the gang threatened them:

This situation is extremely complicated. Pray that God will change the gang leaders hearts, and they will begin serving Him. We believe that God always wins, that nothing is out of His control, and that He uses everything for good.

DONATE

When you give to the Apparent Project, you are not only linking arms with our staff to teach children,
but also helping them provide for their needs
through their salary rather than through charity.

Join us as we bring hope to our Haitian friends! It’s a wonderful opportunity!

Thank you for your generosity!
