A Story of Resilience… Reginal & Enose
Reginal & Enose were married about 4 years ago and have a 2 year old son. They were blessed with an incredible opportunity to build an upstairs apartment on family property. And this property is within walking distance to our AP Haiti location. This is an amazing gift!
Buying property in Port au Prince is expensive and not an option for our staff. Renting is very expensive, too.
Gang activity in other areas has caused huge numbers of families to find relative safety by renting in our area. This has caused rents to increase significantly.
Reg & Enose have been able to live on the family property while building their apartment. And they will actually have a main living area, a small kitchen, two small bedrooms & a bathroom. (A luxury not often available to the poor in Haiti.) What a gift! But it has been a long-term process to build. Years of love, energy, and work poured into this special space. (It is normal to take several years to build a house – as people have money and time.)
All they need is a a roof to turn their walls into a home!
Reginal said, “It’s been 3 years that I’ve been building my house. I hope that this year I can get into it. I know things aren’t easy in the USA & Haiti. I still have hope I’ll get into my house. I can say that with all the help I get from Apparent Project, my house is almost done.”
The rebar, concrete and other costs to build a strong roof for his home is $3000.
Let’s help Reginal finish building his dream! Your help is appreciated.

Another story of Resilience!
Recently we shared that one of our staff needed MORE than a roof.
As a single mom, Vesline is an amazing example of resilience & persistence. She was raised by a single mom who died of cholera the week after her son was born. Her determination to not give up is evident. She worked to provide for herself & her son – which included providing an education for him! She bought a small piece of land, built her temporary “house” with hopes of something better in the future.
We shared videos of Vesline’s house on Instagram @apparentprojecthaiti … and showed how it rained INSIDE her home. Her house is not unusual for the poor in Haiti. Many of our staff have lived in similar dwellings. But Vesline needed a new home. We are grateful to those of you who donated to help Vesline. She is now in the beginning process of building a solid home! It may only be 2 rooms but it will have a solid foundation & be built with cinderblock enforced with rebar & have a strong roof that keeps the rain out!
Vesline is temporarily staying at Apparent Project with her teenage son while her house is being built.
We are excited to see her dream come true!
Join us as we bring hope to our Haitian friends! It’s a wonderful opportunity!
