A Special Intro from our Director, Marilyn

A Special Intro from our Director, Marilyn

Marilyn Monaghan

For those of you who don’t know me… I’m Marilyn Monaghan, current Director of the Apparent Project. (I’m also known as “Shelley’s mom.”)  Some of you may have seen posts on our Facebook page or our AP blog written by Cami Franklin.  Many people know who Cami is, but for those of you who don’t know, I’d like to introduce you to my amazing friend!

Cami first discovered Apparent Project about 4 years ago as a result of looking online for some type of Christmas presents that were “meaningful.” In her search, Cami found a blog that mentioned Apparent Project… and her AP story began.
She ordered a Party Box and was launched into an amazing journey!  She thought she’d have a jewelry party, sell some items and find those meaningful gifts she was looking for… then send the unsold items back and be done with her party! However, that was the first of many parties, many speaking engagements at churches & various events, and many surprise sales at the most unlikely places. She shared the AP story while at doctor & dentist appointments and ended up selling to the nurses, doctors and other people that happened to be there! She was even interviewed for a radio broadcast!

Eventually, she felt the need to visit Haiti to see & experience the Apparent Project and Haiti for herself. Her first trip, in 2012, resulted in more passion, more desire and ability to share what she had learned and seen firsthand. So, the sharing & selling continued with sales that amounted to over $50,000 within two years! Her sales were amazing, and her connection with the Apparent Project vision strengthened.

So, in January 2013, she joined the Apparent Project Board. She has been such a help to us! We are grateful for her insight, her passion, her prayers… and her friendship!

Chaos & oppression in Haiti block opportunities for the poor.

Apparent Project offers the quality education & job skills training needed to help the poor rise up out of poverty and become future leaders of integrity in Haiti.
