Meeting Erick

Meeting Erick

Erick is one of our guards. He is the father of 4- three boys and one girl. The mother of his children recently died from breast cancer. Though he has experienced hardship & pain, he always greets you with a warm & friendly smile. He is such a pleasant person to be around, a hard worker with a genuine interest in the people he is serving.

Erick is trained as a builder but was not able to find work in that field in Haiti, so he has been working at the Apparent Project for several years.

He monitors who comes in and out of our grounds, and helps with other projects that need attention… but always while paying attention to the “red gate!”

Watching kids arrive with their parents in the morning is so much fun! I love it. The afternoon “routine” is also fun We have 2 buildings, one for AP Childcare & Preschool, and one for the AP Elementary & Job Skills training. The elementary kids stay in their area until they hear their names called.

Erick uses a loudspeaker to call each child’s name when the parent arrives. Kids come running & laughing from the elementary side to meet their parents. Fun to watch!

Erick believes that even though the Apparent Project has been struggling financially, God will provide for our needs. We are so grateful to have his calm, pleasant personality, but also his watchful eyes, and thoughtful ways. Just love his welcoming presence!

Erick’s thoughts…

Why did you want to work at AP?  He loves kids and he needed a job.

Are you happy working at AP? Yes – a lot!!!
Why?
I needed to have his answer “interpreted” for me. Then other staff members used the same wording.

Haitian quote… “He’s in his skin!”
Interpretation
He is in the right place for him!

What do you enjoy about your job? He keeps kids safe.

What is your dream?
(My dream is to help him with all his dreams! That is what Apparent Project is all about! )

  • Work – help his kids, help other kids (We are blessed to have him help kids every day!)
  • Be an architect, loves art (And he can draw! and loves to build!)
  • Learn at AP Institute. (It will happen! Just a logistical problem due to his guard job hours!)
  • Would love to have land & build a house (It will happen!)

What do you love/like about Haiti?  He loves the country … the mountains, beach.

Prayer requests… Help pray for kids, for finances & for health

English Version

Apparent Project is good for me especially because of the situation & that we are going through here in Haiti. I can say that Apparent Project has changed the lives of many people, especially me personally. It has changed my life because I was not working, and things were hard for me. I have responsibilities. Apparent Project helps me feed my children. I can take care of my family and myself.  And I would like Apparent Project to grow & to evolve. It will be good for me, and it will be good for a lot of people.  Thank you!!!

Challenge: Gather your Friends… Creat a plan! Build a legacy!

Will it be 4 Friends investing $100/month?  OR  5 Friends contributing$80month?  OR  10 Friends giving $40/month? OR??? Maybe your club or church or school or other group would like to invest more! Together we can do this!

The ripple effects of you helping to serve our staff is exponential in the lives of the Haitian families that they are serving.

34 days to raise $400/month for 34 salaries! It’s not too hard. 34 people, 34 groups, 34 organizations… each catching the vision… providing $400/month for the next 12 months. A year’s commitment!

Together we can make a difference in Haiti!

Chaos & oppression in Haiti block opportunities for the poor.

Apparent Project offers the quality education & job skills training needed to help the poor rise up out of poverty and become future leaders of integrity in Haiti.
