2022 From Struggles to Success

2022 From Struggles to Success

There’s a saying that “All’s well that ends well!” The journey through 2022 was filled with challenges, but is ending well!

The struggles & challenges that escalated throughout the summer & fall have been well documented. Stabilization & peace in Haiti have not been accomplished. But we are grateful to have our school open, even if it’s on a limited basis right now.

Officially, schools won’t open until January, but in November we encouraged all students to show up for times of activity and learning several days each week, but only in the morning. Teachers are doing their best with the limited amount of time. Currently, transportation is a somewhat better, but it’s more expensive. And… the fear of kidnappings & other types of danger is still real. As a result, hours at school are limited & attention is given to times when travel is safe.

Students & teachers are grateful to be together again! Parents are grateful, too! Being so confined & restricted for months has been difficult. Everyone is hoping that in January normal school hours can re-established in Haiti.

More Good News! Last spring we were offered the opportunity to become a certified school through a legal transfer process. This opportunity is rare! It’s normally complicated to become certified & can even take years! We were able to avoid many obstacles, save a lot of money, and quickly acquire legal status with the Haitian government. What is really amazing is that Haiti had closed the doors to any “new” schools… schools that weren’t already working on becoming certified. A “transfer certification” is the only way we could have acquired this status. It is rare for transfers to be available, and extremely rare to be offered. But God!!!

Success! Apparent Project Haiti School is now certified through 9th grade. We currently have about 40 children enrolled in our Childcare & Preschool & about 50 students in kindergarten through 5th grade.

We are so grateful to God for His provision! He made the impossible possible for AP Haiti School!

We are looking forward to 2023 to watch His plans unfold throughout the year!

More news!  Recently, we have been in a tough place financially, and have struggled to pay our Haiti staff salaries. Because of this, in October, we came to you and shared stories about our staff. We also asked you to give. Then after a short break, we again asked you to consider giving to the Apparent Project for Giving Tuesday.

We are happy to report that our entire Haiti staff received their full salaries in October & November! We want this to continue. Our goal is to have the equivalent of 34 $400 monthly donations. This amount would guarantee that all Haiti staff would be paid each month.

Together, we have made progress!

This quick note to invite you again, if you haven’t already made a donation… or if you’d like to make an additional “end of year” donation, to partner with us in this tangible way. We can’t do this without you!

Thank you to so many of you who have given financially to the Apparent Project!
And… Thank for your prayers!  We are so thankful to God for your support!
